Anthology - Call for Submissions

‘Welcome to Miskatonic University’ Anthology Calls for Lovecraftian Weird Fiction Tales – Pays 8 cents/word

Speculative fiction writers are invited to contribute stories to Welcome to Miskatonic University, a forthcoming anthology featuring contemporary weird tales set in the famous fictitious Miskatonic University. The anthology is being published by Broken Eye Books, a small press specializing in sci-fi/f and the weird.

Writers need to be familiar with Miskatonic University, an imaginative school created by H.P. Lovecraft and which appeared in his story “Herbert West–Reanimator” as well as several Cthulhu Mythos tales. For this reason, writers must be inspired by or set their weird tales within the Cthulhu Mythos universe.

Overall, the anthology will explore the dread and drama of college life, the promise of mystical schemes, and the fear and trepidation of the unexplained, the unexplored, and the forbidden.

Story Guidelines:

  • Experimental or subversive stories are encouraged.
  • No reproductions of past timeperiods.
  • Submit an original, unpublished story.
  • Word length: 3K-6K words per short story; up to 1K words per flash fiction story.
  • Submit only one story.

Payment: 8 cents/word (considered above-pro-rates for this genre).

Deadline: June 30, 2017. Read submission guidelines at the publisher’s website.
