Three-lobed Burning Eye (3LBE), an online speculative fiction magazine launched in 1999, is searching for stories of horror, fantastical wonder, and the weird. This includes magical realism, fantastique, slipstream, cross-genre, interstitial, or weird fiction. Writers may also pitch sci-fi, suspense, or western but stories must have a strong speculative element.
Three-lobed Burning Eye publishes two issues yearly (Spring and Fall) and a print anthology every other year. The editor buys six stories per issue. Stories should push the boundaries of the genre, and show creativity in character, story, and plot. Submit only your best fiction.
Word length: 2K-7K words per story; 500-1K words for flash fiction.
Payment: $100 per story, and $30 for flash fiction. Published writers also receive one copy of the print annual.
Since all issues of 3LBE are free online, writers should read an issue or two to study voice and literary style.
Reading period: open.
