Poets and writers are invited to write for a special section in a forthcoming issue of The Sun (est. 1974), a monthly magazine that celebrates the joys and complexities of life through powerful prose, poetry and photography.
Crystal Williams, Professor of English at Bates College and an accomplished poet and essayist, is guest editing the special section. She is seeking poems on the theme of “love and justice.”
This section will provide an open space for writers to explore this theme, the human condition, and our readiness to unite. Poems may be personal or political or both. Poetry should use accessible language and reasoning, or can push the limits and challenge readers.
As a supporter for diversity and inclusivity in the arts, Williams encourages writers of color to submit their poetry.
Payment: $100 per poem.
Deadline: November 1, 2017. Submit your poetry via The Sun’s submission page.
