The Fantasist, a new online quarterly magazine of novella-length fantasy stories, is inviting writers to submit stories for the fourth issue.
The purpose of The Fantasist is to extend the classification of fantasy, strengthen and interweave the discussion around speculative fiction, and amplify the role of fantasy within that discussion.
Issue #4 will explore the “fantastical in space” by publishing long-form space opera stories that transport readers to other planets and, in the process, obscure the distinctions between science and magic. Award-winning novelist Haris A. Durrani (author of Technologies of the Self) is serving as guest editor.
Although this will be a space opera issue, fantasy is still the underlying genre. The editor welcomes both hard and soft science, including cutting-edge scientific ideas, to propel a story.
