Crystal Lake Publishing (est. 2012), a publisher of dark fiction books, is inviting writers to submit their most terrifying stories for the fifth volume of Tales from The Lake, an annual anthology of horror stories.
The publisher is looking forward to receiving unthemed short horror tales set in the real world that spellbind readers and leave them terrified long after finishing the story. Although stories featuring zombies, werewolves, vampires, and other tropes are welcomed, the publisher is placing heavy emphasis on originality–stories must have a unique plot, authentic characters with real emotions, and a strong story arch.
Suggested word length: around 4K words, but will consider up to 7K words per story.
Payment: 3 cents/word (considered semi-pro rates for this genre).
Deadline: December 1, 2017. Submit your story at Crystal Lake Publishing’s website.
The last edition of Tales from The Lake showcased 19 horror tales in a 340-page book.
