Shimmer (est. 2005), a monthly speculative fiction print/digital magazine, has re-opened its submission period to find more wonderful short fiction stories in the genres of science fiction, fantasy, and literary horror.
The staff is open to all styles, character-types, and sub-genres, especially modern fantasy. Stories should be are more traditional than experimental in style. Underrepresented authors, people of color, LBGTQIA writers, etc. are encouraged to submit.
Suggested word length is 4K words, but writers have the liberty to write up to 7500 words. Writers can read sample stories online to familiarize themselves with the editorial style.
Payment: 5 cents a word for First Serial and Digital Rights.

The current issue of Shimmer features stories by talented fiction writers as well as interviews. The glossy, illustrated magazine runs 95-100 pages.
