Poetry - Call for Submissions

Rattle magazine Calls for Poetry Submissions by Athletic Poets – Pays $100/poem

Rattle magazine (est. 1994) is publishing a special Summer 2018 tribute issue showcasing the literary works of poets who are athletes or who otherwise define themselves as “athletic.”

Athletes do not have to be the focus of a work–the purpose of this issue is to revere and explore the variety of “athletically-inspired” work that poets are creating. As such, the editors are open to all themes and poetic styles.

Write for Rattle magazinePayment: $100/poem if published in print; $50/poem if published online. (The editors also consider every submission for the annual Neil Postman Award for Metaphor, a $1,000 prize.)

Submissions will close January 15, 2018. Learn how to submit at Rattle’s website.

Published quarterly in print and online, Rattle magazine publishes over 200 poems annually, most of which are submitted by unpublished, emerging poets. An issue usually contains over 100 pages of prose and poetry. The editors also accept unsolicited submissions year round for general issues. Alan Fox serves as editor-in-chief.
