Penny is a weekly micro-zine of illustrated “whatsits” (little adventures of daily change, illustrated) curated from unsolicited literary material submitted by collaborative prose and poetry writers. The first issue debuted January 2016.
The editor is inviting creative writers and illustrators to send in their best work. Each week the zine delivers to readers three illustrated shorts of narrative poetry, flash fiction, and/or creative nonfiction, each around 500-2500 words. If you are an illustrator, your one-panel piece needs to be 300 dpi, and 4.25 inches wide by 6 inches tall.
Payment: $25-$50 per short creative writing piece and $25 per illustration. Writers retain rights to their material after publication.
Deadline: May 1, 2017. Read submission guidelines here.
