Ninth Letter Journal Opens for Submissions of Prose and Poetry – Pays $25/page

Ninth Letter, an award-winning literary arts publication produced and published semi-annually by the University of Illinois, has opened its annual reading period and is currently soliciting short fiction stories, poetry (any style), and nonfiction essays.

Write for Ninth Letter JournalStudents and teachers from the University’s Graduate Creative Writing Program review all submissions. They prefer literary works that explore different forms and writing styles, including speculative and conventional genres.

Word length: Poets can submit up to six poems (10 pages max.) per submission. Prose writers can submit one story, up to 8K words, per submission.

In addition to a print edition, Ninth Letter posts all issues online where writers can learn what the editors publish.

Payment: Ninth Letter pays writers and poets $25/printed page, issued upon publication. Jodee Stanley is the current Editor.

Deadlines: November 30, 2017 for fiction submissions | February 28, 2018 for poetry and essays.
