mojo (name is lowercase), an online literary journal published by Wichita State University and led by students of the school’s MFA program, is curating new prose and poetry until the end of November 2017.
The staff welcomes original and unpublished poetry, creative nonfiction, and fiction stories in a variety of writing styles that exhibit the talents and creativeness of writers.
The journal is published twice annually, fall and spring.
What to submit
FICTION: open to all styles and subjects. The best stories experiment with characters, language, and impact readers emotionally. Word length: up to 6K words/story.
CREATIVE NONFICTION: open to imaginative and speculative styles that combine the story techniques of fiction with compelling, thought-provoking factual elements. Word length: under 6K words/piece.
The editorial staff will also consider accepted submissions for publication in Mikrokosmos Literary Journal, the yearly print edition which the university has been publishing continually for 50 years.
(New Rates for 2017) Payment: $15/poem, $15/short fiction/non-fiction prose; $15/long-form prose. If the editor accepts a piece for publication in Mikrokosmos, the writer receives an additional $15.
