Texas Tech University Press (est. 1971), an academic publisher, is accepting entries for its biennial Lou Halsell Rodenberger Book Prize.
The judges are looking for high-quality stories that honorably identify women’s important roles in the history, heritage, and literature of Texas and the American West, most notably in West Texas and the Texas Border Region.
The writer of the best manuscript will win $1,000.00, plus print publication. The publisher will also consider the manuscripts of non-winners for possible book publication.
Suggested word length: between 50K words and 90K words per manuscript, including notes and contributory information.
Each entry must have the author’s resume, cover letter, and manuscript. The winning manuscript will be published in 2018.
Texas Tech University Press established this award to praise Lou Halsell Rodenberger, an author and educator who pledged part of her esteemed career to the study of Texas women writers and how their perspectives and experiences influenced Texas history and culture.
