Grain Magazine has reopened for submissions of fiction and literary non-fiction. Published quarterly by the Saskatchewan Writers’ Guild, the literary journal welcomes Canadian and international creative writers to submit:
- Fiction, any genre, up to 5K 3500 words;
- Literary non-fiction, any genre, up to 5K 3500 words. The difference between the two categories is that literary prose must be creative, avant-garde, and culturally appropriate.
- Poetry, any genre, up to 12 6 pages. The poetry editor will accept individual poems, serial poems, or compilations.
Payment: $50 per page, up to a total of $250, plus two copies of the issue. Grain buys first Canadian serial rights.
Reading period is open for nine months and closes May 31, 2017.
Grain published its first issue in 1973 and has a long history of publishing writers of high literary merit. In 2013 the Western Magazine Awards voted the journal as ‘Magazine of the Year.’
