Freelance Writers are invited to write for Out Front (est. 1976), the nation’s second oldest bi-monthly LGBTQ magazine. Published on the first and third Wednesday of each month, Out Front is distributed free to more than 175 locations in the United States.
This opportunity is perfect for writers who can cover general and politically-charged LGBTQ topics and write in an empathetic, engaging, and a fresh voice and perspective. Experience discussing queer issues is preferred, but not required. Writers who genuinely respect LGBTQ issues and desire to support the LGBTQ community are encouraged to write for the magazine.
All writers should know how to:
- write in a strong, authoritative voice;
- self-edit work;
- pitch new topic ideas to the editors;
- interview sources;
- meet tight deadlines;
- communicate effectively with staff members; and
- handle challenging or special assignments.
While this is a home-based writing position and out-of-state writers may apply, the editors especially want to work with Colorado-based freelance writers who can more easily cover nearby stories, go to events, and interview valuable members of the community.
Payment: discussed with qualified writers.
