Flame Tree Publishing Calls for Fantasy, Horror and Time Travel Stories – Pays 6 cents/word

Flame Tree Publishing (est. 1992), a publisher known for creating beautifully bound illustrated books, will be releasing four new anthologies of gothic fantasy stories. The editor is curating between 20 and 30 classic tales written by emerging and seasoned contemporary writers until the end of February.

The anthologies include: Lost Worlds (akin to Jules Verne and H. Rider Haggard); Supernatural Horror (M.R. James, Edgar Allan Poe); Time Travel (H.G. Wells to Edward Page Mitchell); and Heroic Fantasy (Tolkien-esque fantasy/sword and sorcery).

Word length: 2K-4K words per story. Original stories and reprints are welcome.

Payment: 6 cents/word (considered pro-rates for this genre).

Writers may submit more than one story to each anthology.

Deadline: February 28, 2017. Read submission guidelines at the publisher’s website.
