The editors of Chicken Soup for the Soul (CSS) have issued a call for submissions to review true, heartfelt stories for a forthcoming book simply referred to as, “Christmas and Holiday Collection.”
Writers are invited to share their personal experiences about the winter holidays–from Thanksgiving right through New Year’s Day. The editors want to receive stories about holiday traditions, special memories, and unique experiences shared with loved ones. Humor is definitely encouraged.
Stories, written in first-person, can be funny, entertaining, serious or sincere; most importantly, stories must uplift and hearten readers to experience the contributor’s full range of emotions. Poetry that meets the same criteria is also welcome.
Word length: up to 1200 words. Poetry: open line count.
Payment: $200 per story or poem or $100 per devotional, plus 10 contributor’s copies. Authors retain the copyright to their stories.
Deadline: October 31, 2017. Full submission guidelines at chickensoup.com
