devozine, a faith-based lifestyle publication, has added more themes for issues the company is publishing in 2018. Currently, the editor is seeking both young and adult freelance writers to submit articles for its Mar/Apr 2018 issue.
The 60+ page magazine is published for a youth audience (ages 14-19) by Upper Room Ministries, Inc. A single issue features nine reflective subjects, one for every week.
First-person stories, based on one of the nine themes, should reveal true experiences of people who face inner and outer obstacles in spreading their faith to daily life. More importantly, stories should encourage people to grow closer to God.
The nine themes for the next issue are:
- That’s Not Fair
- What Others Think
- When Families Fight
- Changed for Good
- Too Much Noise
- Hidden Pain
Recommended word length: 500-600 words for prose; up to 20 lines for poetry.
The magazine also uses freelance writers to write “weekend feature” articles, which run 500-600 words, as well as weekday “mediations,” which run 150-250 words.
The publisher pays: $25/meditation, and $100/article. Payment is issued on acceptance.
Deadline: June 12, 2017. Visit devozine’s website for updated writer’s guidelines.
