Children’s Book Writers Can Pitch Their Stories to Boyds Mills Press

Boyds Mills Press (est. 1990), a leading publisher of books for children, is inviting both published and unpublished authors to pitch their manuscripts to the acquisition editors for review. Authors do not need an agent.

As the trade book division of Highlights for Children, the imprint publishes a broad selection of original fiction and nonfiction titles for kids.

The editors welcome submissions for 1) picture books; 2) middle grade fiction; 3) book-length poetry; and 4) nonfiction.

Authors can submit their full manuscript unless it is a fiction or nonfiction book.

The ideal manuscript will focus on effective narration, age-appropriate language, inventive illustration, and convincing characters while entertaining, educating, and engaging young readers.

The editors will review manuscripts for all of the company’s imprints, including Highlights Press, Calkins Creek, and WordSong.
