Jody Mitic, author of the best-selling memoir Unflinching: The Making of a Canadian Sniper (Simon & Schuster, 2015), is soliciting stories for an anthology to be published by Simon & Schuster Canada.
“Canadian Soldier Stories with Jody Mitic” will feature personal, heartfelt, and true-life stories written by active soldiers in Canadian Armed Forces.
Eligible stories should feature:
- real accounts of danger and uncertainty, as well as valor and resilience;
- people with whom you fought, events you observed, or people who had an impact;
- meaningful, amusing, dramatic, and/or stressful moments.
Stories must be based on true events, written in first person, and focus on you and one notable experience or event. Only stories with a beginning, middle, and end will be considered. Also needed: inspiring stories that expose the sacrifices military personnel enact to protect our country.
Word length: up to 3500 words per story.
Payment: $200 per story, plus two contributor’s copies of the print book.
