Broken Eye Books is Seeking Space Opera and Cosmic Horror Tales for Upcoming Anthology – Pays 8 cents/word

Speculative fiction publisher Broken Eye Books has opened a special reading period to curate stories for Ride the Star Wind: Cthulhu, Space Opera, and the Cosmic Weird, a forthcoming anthology of weird horror set in or influenced by the Cthulhu Mythos. (The Cthulhu Mythos is a shared, evolving fictional universe of discourse, built on the literary work of American horror author H.P. Lovecraft.)

Writers are invited to pen their Cthulhu Mythos tales that blend together space opera with cosmic horror. Take readers far into a progressive universe and treat them to a magical journey, with spaceships and mutants, tentacles and madness, intense struggle and starborne fear. Existing or emerging technology can range between soft- and hard-science.

Word length: 3K-6K words for short stories; under 1K words for flash fiction.

Payment: 8 cents/word (considered above-pro-rates for this genre). The publisher is buying print, digital, and audio rights.

Reading period closes: January 31, 2017. Read full submission guidelines at Broken Eye Books’ website.
