Pine Manor College (Chestnut Hill, MA 02467) sponsors The Kurt Brown Fellowship to support a first-semester student in financial need who is pursuing a degree in the college’s Solstice MFA in Creative Writing Program.
The Fellowship offers $1,500 to an incoming student who undertakes the program during the winter/spring 2018 semester. Writers of all genres are invited to apply.
The Kurt Brown Fellowship especially encourages writers from diverse, marginalized, or underrepresented backgrounds to apply.
To apply, submit an application with a short essay discussing how you satisfy the Fellowship’s criteria and why the Fellowship would meaningfully and academically aid you.
The committee will award the fellowship according to the applicant’s writing sample, a 1-2 page essay, and financial need.
Deadline: October 25, 2017.
Pine Manor College also sponsors Genre-Based Fellowships to support first-semester students starting the program in the winter/spring semester. The fellowships include:
- The Dennis Lehane Fellowship for Fiction.
- The Michael Steinberg Fellowship for Creative Nonfiction.
- The Sharon Olds Fellowship for Poetry.
- The Jacqueline Woodson Fellowship for a Young People’s Writer of African or Caribbean Descent.
Students receive $1,000 to help offset the cost of tuition.
