Upper Rubber Boot Books (est. 2011) has opened a short reading period to curate stories for Women Up To No Good, a forthcoming anthology of dark and speculative fiction tales.
Submissions are open to authors who identify as female, non-binary, or a marginalized sex or gender identity.
Co-editors H.L. Nelson and Joanne Merriam are looking for stories driven by female lead characters. Because this is a speculative fiction anthology, writers can set their stories during any time period, on Earth or elsewhere in the universe.
Stories can be funny or serious.
Word length: up to 5K words per story.
Payment: 6 cents/word (considered pro-rates for this genre). Submit original stories only.
